Privacy policy and terms of sale

Privacy and terms

This page states what this site records, who processes it, how long it is kept, and what you agree to when you order. Part one covers privacy. Part two covers ordering, paying and returning.

Who is responsible

kachche dhaage is run by Charmi Shah and Utsav Shah from Surat, Gujarat, India. They decide what personal data is collected and why, and they are the people you reach at the number at the foot of this page.

Grievance Redressal Officer: Utsav Shah. Complaints about how your personal data has been handled go to him, on the WhatsApp number at the foot of this page. He answers them himself. Naming an officer is required of a Data Fiduciary under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023; here it reaches the same two people who run the atelier, because there is nobody else it could reach.

What is collected

What happens by default depends on where you are. In the UK and the rest of Europe, nothing is recorded until you tap Allow. Everywhere else, including India, analytics is on from your first page, the label tells you so, and tapping Don’t turns it off.

When it is on, Google Analytics records which pages are opened, which pieces are looked at, which age band is chosen, and when someone taps through to WhatsApp. That is the whole list. It tells us which pieces people are drawn to and which sizes they are looking at — questions an atelier this small cannot answer any other way.

When it is off, none of it is stored. The analytics tag loads with storage switched off, so no cookie is written and nothing is kept between visits. Where it starts off, that is set before the tag runs, not after you answer. Where it starts on, tapping Don’t deletes the analytics cookie and stops anything further being recorded; what was sent from the pages before you answered is not recalled, which is exactly why Europe is asked first.

Two items are stored in your own browser either way and are never transmitted: kd:recent, the last few pieces you viewed, so the site can show them again; and kd:consent, your answer to the question above — or that you closed it without answering — so you are not asked twice. Those are the only two.

Separately, and regardless of your answer, this site counts page views through Cloudflare Web Analytics. It records the page, the referring site, the country, and the device type. It writes nothing to your browser — no cookie, no stored identifier — and it cannot recognise you on a later visit or on any other site. It exists because the analytics above never describe visitors who said no to them, which makes them useless for the one question of how many people came at all.

Who processes it

Three companies, for four purposes, and no others.

Google (Google Analytics)
Analytics. In the UK and Europe, only if you agree: loaded with storage denied until you accept, so declining means no cookie is written at any point. Elsewhere, on until you decline, and declining deletes its cookie.
Cloudflare
Hosting, the domain’s DNS, and the page-view counting described above. Every visit to this site reaches a Cloudflare server, which necessarily sees your IP address in order to serve the page.
Google (Apps Script, Sheets and Drive)
Only if you apply to collaborate with us. The application form runs on Google, and what you submit is kept in our own Google Sheet and Drive. See below.
Meta (WhatsApp)
Carries every enquiry and order conversation. Meta’s own terms and privacy policy govern that conversation.

What is not done

Nothing is sold, rented or shared for advertising. There is no advertising on this site and no remarketing anywhere else. We do not build profiles, we do not know who you are, and we have no way to connect a visit to a person.

Apart from the collaboration application, no form on this site sends anything to us. The measurement page and every enquiry button write a message and hand it to WhatsApp on your own device. Nothing is submitted, because there is nowhere here to submit it to — this is a set of files, not an application with a database behind it.

Collaboration applications

Creators can apply to collaborate with us at /collab. That form is the one place on this site that sends information to us directly. It asks for your name, city, your child’s age or ages, a WhatsApp number or email, your Instagram profile, and screenshots from Instagram Insights.

It runs on Google Apps Script, and what you submit is stored in our own Google Sheet and Google Drive. It is read by authorised members of the kachche dhaage team, and used to evaluate the collaboration. Ask us to delete your application and we will.

Messages you send us

The conversation is on WhatsApp, which is Meta’s, and their terms cover it. What reaches us is what you chose to send: the piece, the size, sometimes a colour or a set of measurements.

The legal basis for holding this is that it is necessary to make and deliver the piece you ordered. We keep the conversation while the order is being made and afterwards for as long as it may be needed for a remake, an alteration or a repeat order for the same child. Ask us to delete a conversation and we will delete it.

Children’s data

Ordering to your own measurements means sending a child’s name and body measurements. We ask for the name only so the pattern and the parcel can be labelled, and we would rather have a first name than a full one.

That information is typed by you, into WhatsApp, by a parent or guardian. It never touches this website — the page composes the message and nothing more. The one exception is a child’s age on the collaboration application, described above. We never use anything about a child for tracking, profiling or advertising, and there is no circumstance in which we would.

Your choices and your rights

You haven't answered yet — the label will appear as you browse. You may change it at any time, and nothing else on the site behaves differently either way.

You may also ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. In practice that means a WhatsApp conversation and anything in it. Write to us at the number below and we will act on it. These rights are yours under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, and under the UK and EU GDPR if you are reading this from either.

Clearing your browser’s data for this site removes both stored items and has the same effect.

Part two

Ordering, paying, returning

Every piece is cut after it is ordered, which is what makes the terms below read the way they do. They are the same ten set out on our story, repeated here so the small print sits in one place.

Made to order, in small numbers
Nothing is held in stock. Your piece is cut and finished after you order it, in our own atelier in Surat.
Size is confirmed before we cut
Tell us your child's age and height and we'll advise. We confirm the sizing with you before production begins — never after.
Colour, where the fabric allows
Some fabrics can be made in another colour and some cannot. We'll tell you honestly which applies to the piece you want, before you pay.
Payment in full, by UPI
Orders are confirmed with full advance payment. We don't offer cash on delivery — a made-to-order piece is begun the moment you confirm.
Shipping is included in India
The price you're quoted is the price you pay, inclusive of taxes and delivery anywhere in India. Nothing is added at the end.
We ship worldwide
Wherever the child is, we will post to them. Shipping outside India is charged on top of the price rather than included in it — tell us where the parcel is going and we will quote it with the piece, before you pay anything.
Usually 10–12 days to dispatch
Counted from the day sizing is confirmed. Tell us the date you need it for and we'll be honest about whether we can meet it.
Tracking when it ships
We share tracking as soon as your piece is on its way.
All sales are final
Every piece is cut to a size you confirmed and made only after you order it, so there is no general return or exchange — not for a change of mind, and not for a size you would now choose differently. Each garment is inspected in the atelier before it is packed. This is why we take sizing slowly at the start, and why we would rather talk you out of a size than cut the wrong one.
If a parcel arrives damaged or the wrong piece
The one exception, and a narrow one. Message us on WhatsApp the day it arrives with an unedited unboxing video — a single continuous take that begins with the parcel still sealed and runs without a cut until the piece is fully out of the box. Without that video we cannot assess a claim. With it, Charmi and Utsav review the case themselves and decide — a remake, a replacement or a refund is at their discretion, not automatic.

Damaged or incorrect parcels

Every piece is checked over in the atelier before it is dispatched. Beyond that, all sales are final — each garment is cut to a size you confirmed and made only after you order it, so there is no general return or exchange, for a change of mind or for a size you would now choose differently.

The one exception is a parcel that arrives damaged, or holding a piece that isn’t what was confirmed. Message us on WhatsApp the day it arrives with an unedited unboxing video — a single continuous take that begins with the parcel still sealed and runs without a cut until the piece is fully out of the box. Without that video we cannot assess a claim. With it, Charmi and Utsav review the case themselves, and a remake, replacement or refund is at their discretion rather than automatic.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of India, and any dispute arising from them falls to the courts of Surat, Gujarat. kachche dhaage is run directly by Charmi and Utsav Shah: there is no department to escalate to, and the number below is theirs.
